Thi Ngoc Mai Le

Thi Ngoc Mai Le (Mai) (she/her) is a Graduate Research Assistant at the International Arts + Mind Lab. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the Johns Hopkins University School of Education.

As a Graduate Research Assistant, Mai’s role revolves around conducting research which includes conducting literature reviews, drafting reports, and analyzing data. Her work also involves assisting with IRB applications and project documentation, preparing slide decks, and assisting with grant applications. 

Before joining IAM Lab, Mai served as a Research Assistant and Intern at Columbia University and the Columbia-WHO Center for Global Mental Health. Here, she focused on a project addressing common mental disorders and intimate partner violence in Mozambique by adapting Interpersonal Psychotherapy for use in Couples (IPT-C). Mai’s extensive research experience also includes conducting multiple studies in clinical, health, and cultural psychology at Dickinson College.

Mai brings a unique perspective on the therapeutic and social applications of the arts. She dedicated three years to serving as an Education Intern at The Trout Gallery: The Art Museum of Dickinson College. In this role, she designed and implemented “Culture Studio” workshops that leveraged art to dismantle stereotypes and foster social justice dialogues among local middle schoolers, promoting cultural awareness and creating an inclusive learning environment through interactive experiences.

Mai graduated Summa Cum Laude with Departmental Honors from Dickinson College where she got her Bachelors in Psychology and Educational Studies.
